In June we had an interesting talk by Bryony Slater of Somerset Wildlife Trust at our annual social evening.   She explained the result of the Ecological Survey we had commissioned in May, gave some suggestions for how we might manage the meadow over the coming years and answered a range of questions from the attendees.

In August a new bench was installed in the top, north west corner of the meadow and has been in frequent use since.

There is also now a path along the boundary between the benches.   We would encourage those walking round the meadow to use it instead of the parallel path further into the field, so that the grass crop can re-establish along that previous path for the benefit of our annual income.

Although several of the hedge whips along the boundaries did not survive this year's very hot summer, we are delighted that, with a bit of additional watering, our recently planted oak did.   The  four new trees by the bridge also survived.
